Abstract: A paper delivered at the World Congress of Jewish Studies in Jerusalem, August 2009. Deplores the fact that Islamic antisemitism was neglected by scholars and politicians alike until very recently. In the 1980s, it was still possible to regard Middle Eastern antisemitism as primarily a function of the Arab-Israeli conflict, i.e. having no deep religious, cultural, and social roots. Since then, Islamic antisemitism, fostered by Qur'anic sources and enhanced by plagiarism from the West in the form of the "Protocols of the Elders of Zion" or other works, has been separated from the struggle for Palestine and has received a genocidal character. Moreover, this genocidal antisemitism has now returned to Europe and North America, largely as a result of large-scale Muslim immigration. Antisemitism in its Islamic version is now, in fact, a most important export of the Arab world and Iran and has become a global phenomemon. Stresses the importance to be on alert regarding the Muslim variety of antisemitism that in some aspects surpasses Nazi antisemitism in its blatancy of expression.
