Abstract:
Discusses the monument erected in Rabin Square (then Malkhei Israel Square) in 1975 - an upside-down pyramid created by Israeli sculptor Igael Tumarkin. Its abstract design was the focus of public controversy, and despite its prestigious location (on the grounds of the City Hall), the monument failed to perform its intended commemorative function.
