    Abstract: Deals with humor in Germany before the war - expressed in popular culture such as cabarets, cartoons,and jokes by both Jews and non-Jews; during the war (especially by Jews in concentration camps); and after the war in order to deal with the tragedy. The humor was a form of political satire, of protest and a way of coping with the terrors of the Holocaust. Pp. 262-265 relate to humor in postwar films on the Holocaust.
