Kurzfassung:
Relates the history of a chapel in Büren (south of Paderborn), built in 1720 and dedicated to the memory of a host desecration in 1337, its miraculous revelation, and the punishment of the Jews who were blamed for it. A ballad sung during pilgrimages to the site tells the story of the event. It was only in 2006 that a former resident of Büren called attention to this matter of a false accusation against the Jews. Pupils at the local Gymnasium undertook to research it, and presented their findings in public. A tablet was then affixed to the entrance of the chapel, explaining that the legend was concocted as a retroactive justification for a massacre of Jews that had taken place in 1292.
