    Abstract: Among possible reasons mentioned for the non-identification of the Jews of Martinique with the increasingly hybrid population of the island were the enforcement of the Vichy anti-Jewish laws in Martinique during World War II, recent pro-Palestinian and anti-Zionist views among some of the island's elite, and the legacy of colonialism, which included French Catholic antisemitism.
