Abstract:
The pogrom in Odessa on 16-17 July 1900 is less well-known than other pogroms which took place in that city. There were no fatalities, and the municipal authorities wanted to prevent the spread of information about it. Quotes from press accounts of the pogrom published throughout Russia, from which one can conclude that the authorities did little to prevent or stop the pogrom, many people took part in it, and it resulted in a great loss of property. The causes of the outbreak of the pogrom remain unclear.
