Abstract: Discusses the popularity of the "Protocols" in the Arab world, where the conspiracy theory is used to explain how the Jews, who should have been easily defeated according to the Qur'an, managed to establish an independent state and to win several wars with neighboring Arab countries. Negative stereotypes of Jews as scheming conspirators are widely accepted in the Arab world, partly due to the fact that Muhammad accused them of conspiring against him. The Jews are also blamed for causing the rift between Shi'ite and Sunni Muslims, in an attempt to destroy Islam. Briefly discusses some editions of the "Protocols", which were first translated into Arabic in the 1920s, as well as uses of the conspiracy theory in the Arab world and recent TV programs based on the "Protocols" in Egypt and Syria. Notes that even the small number of Muslims who admit that the "Protocols" may be a forgery nevertheless insist that there is a worldwide Jewish conspiracy.
