Abstract:
The late 11th-century works by Gilbert Crispin, a pupil of Anselm of Canterbury, are characteristic of the transitory stage from the early Jewish-Christian disputations, where scriptural authority served as the main tool of argument, to the attempt to prove the truth of Christian doctrine through reason.
