Abstract: Discusses the difference between "coexistence" and "living together" in the context of Christian-Jewish relations in medieval Spain. Argues that Christians and Jews coexisted but did not live together: although Christianity was somehow tolerant at the philosophical-theoretical and even the practical level, there is no doubt that the Jews were a marginalized minority, subject to anti-Jewish measures such as regulation of usury, prohibition from holding public office, requirement to wear specific clothing, restrictions on residence, and compulsory attendance at sermons.
