Abstract: Traces the figure of Béraud (1885-1958), French writer and journalist, who at the beginning of his career was a leftist and pacifist, and in the 1930s turned to fascist and antisemitic ideology. Deals with the evolution of his antisemitism, latent in the 1920s, and never original. Explains the change in his opinions by his anglophobia and anti-Bolshevism. Adds some personal determinants of his ideological evolution, such as his eagerness for social recognition and the fact that he became the best-paid French journalist (among others, as the main publicist of "Gringoire") due to his involvement with rightist circles.
