Abstract: During the first years after the Holocaust, Israeli educators avoided intensive study of the subject. The Eichmann trial in the early 1960s changed the situation, as details of the Holocaust were published, and Israeli youth began to ask questions. The Six-Day War (1967) was also a turning point. The imminent danger aroused the consciousness that Israelis must fight as remnants of the Holocaust. Since then, this heightened consciousness persists, and is reflected in more intensive pedagogical activities.
