Abstract:
A number of letters which Natasha Deutsch wrote to her grandchildren when they were living in Jerusalem. The letters "were meant to give them support and remind them of their extended family in the US". Her grandchildren were 5 and 8 years old at that time. The letters are written in a wise and sensitive way to be understandable to them. She covers the time of the Anschluss, and other childhood memories from Austria. Her difficulties to adapt to a new culture in the USA--language, clothing styles, etc.
