Kurzfassung:
An analysis of interviews carried out by the journalist Slepak in the Warsaw ghetto, on behalf of the Ringelblum archives, in late 1941-early 1942. Slepak interviewed 16 Jewish women from all walks of life. Focuses on the stories of three of the interviewees, all of whom showed resourcefulness in the face of adversity. Only one of them, Batia Temkin, is identified with her full name; she established a children's library in the ghetto and survived the Holocaust. Very little is known about Slepak herself, but it is clear that she respected those women who maintained a sense of dignity and tried to find work and help others.
