Kurzfassung:
Discusses the evolution of traditional anti-Judaism into modern antisemitism in 19th-20th-century Germany. Emancipation proved to be most dangerous for the Jew. The more he dressed like his neighbor, the more rights he won, the more he spoke its language, the more the surrounding society hated him. The Jew became the arch-enemy, who threatened economic and political life. Christian Jew-hatred was based on slandering the Jew, but not on annihilating him. Jews could be redeemed if they embraced Christianity. Traces the development of German antisemitism, from Wagner to Hitler. The Germans accepted Nazism as a kind of religion, to be followed strictly. After 1945, everyone believed that there was no more antisemitism in Germany. However, this is not true. 15% of the German population is openly antisemitic, and another 30% admit to some form of antisemitism. The way to fight this prejudice is by conveying correct information in the framework of the family, the church, the school, and the workplace.
