    Abstract: This is the copy of a seventeenth-century prayer book written and decorated by the scribe and cantor Shimshon bar Yochanan ha-Levi from the German town of Gelnhausen. The volume is primarily written in a semi-cursive Ashkenazi script. It is decorated with ornamented oversized letters and some important phrases and refrains are highlighted in red ink.
