Abstract:
This bibliography is an united and enlarged version of a series of bibliographies published in the "Archiv für Orientforschung" from volume 25 (1974-77) onwards. It allows a quick access to Sabaeistic literature. It is organized by names of authors according to the alphabet and provides a short explanatory description of each title. It contains investigations on geography, archaeology and history of art (burials, settlements, fortifications, small finds: bones, coins, glass, jewellery, pottery, metal, wood, textiles, pictures, stone vessels, sculpture etc.), Ancient and Medieval history (Greeks, Romans, Persians, Arabs, Beduins, cities, women), economic history (trade, agriculture and husbandry, water-management), religious history (ancient cults and deities, Judaism, Christianity, Islam), architecture (buildings, sculpture, wall paintings), linguistics (ancient south Arabian languages, Semitic languages, Arabian), onomastics and epigraphy (rocks, buildings, burials, altars, stone/bronze tablets). The volume concludes with indices on abbreviations of inscriptions, ancient southern Arabian words, words from other Semitic languages and find sites of inscriptions without abbreviations.
