Abstract:
The memoir covers Lewinsky's childhood, social world, and education from primary through university studies in Hamburg. The manuscript also offers extensive details about her work as an elementary school teacher in a school run by the Jewish community of Hamburg during the 1930s, and about her decision to emigrate in 1938-1939 to England for a nurse's training program. She notably decided not to join her family in the mid-1930s when they emigrated to Palestine. Accompanying the manuscript is Lewinsky's curriculum vitae.
