Abstract:
Describes Jewish life in Michelstadt (Hessen) from 1600 until the destruction of the community in 1943. Quotes the original text of the "Judenordnung" of 1629, which institutionalized restrictions imposed on the Jews, including a yearly tax. In 1848 the restrictions were reduced, and in 1872 officially abolished. Describes the boycott campaign after 1933 and gives a detailed report on the anti-Jewish restrictions of the Nazi regime, with facsimiles of documents, and names of local Jews and their fate
