    Abstract: A collection of documents on the Holocaust period in Romania, mostly reprinted from previously published collections, especially from Matatias Carp's "Cartea Neagra" ("The Black Book") and "Documents Concerning the Fate of Romanian Jewry during the Holocaust", 12 vols., ed. by Jean Ancel (New York: Beate Klarsfeld Foundation, 1986-1987). Includes a few unpublished documents from Romanian archives. Reprints texts of the racist antisemitic legislation after 1940; Romanian and foreign official documents on Antonescu's anti-Jewish policy; reports and testimonies on the pogroms in Dorohoi (July 1940), Bucharest (January 1941), Iaşi (June 1941); on the massacres and deportations in Bessarabia, Bukovina, and Transnistria; on ghettos and concentration camps in the same regions; on the deportation and murder of the northern Transylvania Jews under Hungarian rule; and on the massacre of the 126 Jews of Sărmaş by Hungarian local police in September 1944
