    Abstract: The use of an alphabetic script links the Jewish, Christian and Muslim cultures in the Middle Ages. There have always been intensive interrelationships between the religions of these cultures, inter alia through translations of important (sacred) texts. Cultural transmissions such as these also involved conflicts of translation, as they introduced reference texts which were binding on religion, culture and law and thus excluded other reference texts.
