This interview details Edith's memories of her childhood in Hamburg during the 1920s, and her experience after Nazism came to power. She shares details of her family's customs and values, music, and the dismissal of her father Richard G. Salomon from the University of Hamburg. The social ambience of the Nazi period, schooling and friendships, touring and cultural attitudes are also addressed. Her immigration to the United States and the experience of landing in New York, as well as her postwar relations with her old German connection are also discussed.
