    Abstract: Unrevised version (transcript) of Wilhelm Herzfeld’s memoirs spanning the nineteenth fin de siècle and first half of the twentieth century. Large sections pertaining to the German army, the Nazi regime and politics in general were omitted to elude censorship. The original memoirs end with the author’s 50th birthday in Frankfurt; five addenda were written in New York in circa 1943.
    Abstract: Also included is a family chronicle by Wilhelm Herzfeld’s son Siegfried Herzfeld, who transcribed his father’s memoirs.
