Abstract:
This Hebrew translation of Venclova's 1976 essay "Jews and Lithuanians" is followed, on pp. 471-478, by comments of the translator, Mordechai Zalkin, who notes that over 90% of Lithuanian Jews were killed, mostly in local forests, with Lithuanian collaboration. Discusses debates between Lithuanian historians (since the first appearance of Venclova's essay) on the reasons for this collaboration.
