Geschichte 950-1250
Abstract:
Mark Cohen offers a study of the Jewish poor and poor relief in Egypt from the 11th to the mid-14th century, based mainly on documents from the Cairo Geniza. The Geniza is unique in that it offers access not only to the attitudes and philanthropic activities of the charitable, but also to the voices of the poor.
