    Abstract: Die erstmals 2006 in Hamburg gezeigte Wanderausstellung "Verstummte Stimmen" widmet sich einem kaum untersuchten Kapitel der Nazizeit der Säuberung der deutschen Opernhäuser. Die aus einem überregionalen und einem jeweils neu recherchierten lokalen Teil bestehende Ausstellung erzählt das Schicksal von 44 prominenten Komponisten, Dirigenten, Regisseuren, Sängerinnen und Sängern, die Opfer der rassistischen Musikpolitik der Nationalsozialisten wurden. Neben prominenten Namen wie Arnold Schönberg, Kurt Weill, Otto Klemperer, Bruno Walter, Gitta Alpár, Delia Reinhardt, Lotte Schöne, Richard Tauber, Joseph Schmidt, Friedrich Schorr werden auch die unbekannten verfolgten Ensemblemitglieder des Württembergischen Landestheaters Stuttgart erinnert die Solisten aus der zweiten Reihe, die Kapellmeister, die Mitglieder von Chor und Orchester, die Arbeiter, Handwerker und Angestellten hinter der Bühne.
