Kurzfassung:
Analyzes the attitudes of Poles to Jewish escapees from the death camps of Treblinka, Sobibór and Bełżec, based on 48 postwar testimonies written by Jews and nine testimonies written by Poles. States that all the Jews who escaped and survived had to have been helped by the peasants in the area. The Jews did not write about this in their testimonies because they felt that it was a "normal" thing to receive food from the Poles in such a situation. However, the Poles did not view their aid as "normal" because helping Jews was a very dangerous act. Adds that the actions of some Poles who murdered Jewish escapees were related to greed, and not to antisemitism.
