Abstract: During the German occupation of Denmark, some small but active circles tried to pressure the Danish government (before its resignation in summer 1943) to introduce anti-Jewish legislation. When this did not succeed, the youth organization of the Danish Anti-Jewish League, Cimbrertyren, lost patience with the government and the Danish Nazi party. During summer 1942, its members went about harassing Jews in the greater Copenhangen area. Windows were smashed, posters were hung to identify Jewish shops, and Jewish nameplates were removed in an effort to terrorize the Jews. Although this succeeded, the goverment could not be brought to institute anti-Jewish laws.
