Abstract:
Als die Wehrmacht die Niederlande im Mai 1940 überfiel, lebten dort 140.000 Juden. Die deutschen Besatzungskräfte griffen zu immer schärferen anti-jüdischen Maßnahmen. 107.000 Männer, Frauen und Kinder wurden in die nationalsozialistischen Konzentrations- und Vernichtungslager deportiert. Mindestens 102.000 von ihnen wurden von der SS ermordet oder fielen mörderischen Arbeits- und Lebensbedingungen zum Opfer. Dies ist die erste Ausstellung zur Geschichte der Verfolgung der Juden während der deutschen Besatzungsherrschaft in den Niederlanden, in deren Fokus fotografische Zeugnisse stehen. Sie wurde vom NIOD Instituut voor Oorlogs-, Holocaust en Genocidestudies in Kooperation mit dem Joods Cultureel Kwartier/Nationaal Holocaust Museum i.o. und der Stiftung Topographie des Terrors erarbeitet. Für die Präsentation der Ausstellung in Berlin wurde eine überarbeitete und ergänzte deutsche Ausgabe des niederländischen Begleitbandes veröffentlicht.
