Abstract:
Discusses the semantic definition of usury in medieval Spain, showing that it did not have the pejorative connotation which it later acquired, and that usury was a necessary occupation, regulated by law. States that the Jews were occupied in many other professions but that, due to the necessity for bookkeeping, historical documentation of usury is much more abundant.
