Education in traditional Cheder; flight to Germany in order to escape military service in Russian army; marriage and traveling around looking for jobs; working first as a glazier, then as a teacher, cantor and ritual slaughterer in Culmsee and other small Jewish communities in West Prussia; World War I; dissolution of Culmsee Jewish community and move to Berlin; Bar Mitzvah speech for his grandson.
