Abstract:
The diary was written between 1963 and 1970 and includes poems and reflections on a broad range of philosophic, religious and political topics. It contemplates themes like love and sexuality, loneliness, social problems, art and eastern religions, the latter probably inspired by the presence of a roommate from India. Frequent reflections on special documentaries on television. Visits at her daughter’s. Thoughts about motherhood and family matters. Reflections on books read by the author. Criticism of capitalist societies and America in particular, which was just getting involved in the Vietnam war at that time. Description of her journeys to Israel and Greece. Sadness and nostalgic feelings about her decision to sell the house, where her family had lived for 23 years. The diary ends in 1970 with her visit to Australia, where her son George was living with his family.
