Abstract:
With integration at the forefront of the European agenda, the importance of national identity and ethnic heritage has become the object of focused attention. So too have racial conflict and discrimination, as groups vie for place and privilege in an increasingly competitive world. This timely book aims to provide a critical examination of current anti-discrimination law and policy relating to race in a selection of the EC member states. It also discusses provisions and developments likely to result from the creation of a unified Europe as well as the relevance of international and regional treaty obligations.
