Abstract:
Discusses rabbinic decisions regarding Jewish communal and synagogal functionaries. Generally, such functionaries (rabbis, teachers, etc.) enjoy tenure in their positions so long as they are not remiss in performance of their duties. Notes that although there are references to the issues of communal tenure in many rabbinic texts, there is no treatise which has gathered all the material together. Presents several examples of cases.
