Kurzfassung:
Maqueda was a flourishing town near Toledo, with ca. 50 Jewish families in the 15th century. Describes two documents from ca. May-July 1492, giving instructions on the disposition of Jewish debts, goods, and properties during the expulsion, the second one relating specifically to the Abravanel family. Discusses the Inquisition record of a trial in 1509-10, of the Converso Juan Calderón (Yuda Aben Sabad) from Maqueda, in absentia. The testimonies of witnesses for the prosecution - Jews from Maqueda who left in the expulsion, wandered from Portugal to Fez in Morocco, and then converted in order to return to Maqueda - show the tribulations of the Jews who were expelled. Calderón, who converted in 1492, later followed his parents to Fez and returned to Judaism. The Inquisition trial condemned him to be burned in effigy, which was carried out in June 1510. Pp. 250-253 present the composition of the court (names of judges, investigators, prosecution and defense witnesses) and the chronology of the trial.
