Abstract:
The whistle-blowing under discussion is a series of newspaper articles and pamphlets in which Émile Zola exposed the criminal wrong-doing committed by the military courts against Alfred Dreyfus. Examines and quotes three articles and two brochures by Zola that preceded his "J'accuse" in 1897. In his attempt to draw public attention to a criminal judicial error, Zola relies on reason, on the ideals of truth and justice, without invoking God's authority. Argues that, notwithstanding, traditional Jews can use Zola's example when it is necessary to expose a wrong-doing in daily life, be it business, medical, or other activities.
