Abstract:
A speech held in Hamburg University on 10 November 1988. Focusing on Rosenzweig's philosophical works, in which the conflict between Christianity and Judaism is discussed and religious anti-Jewish sources are mentioned, shows the influence of these works on the revision of the Church's attitude toward Judaism after the Holocaust. However, considers the Rhineland Synod's 1980 declaration insufficient. Emphasizes the guilt of the Christian population in Germany. Mentions, also, Jewish post-Holocaust theology. Concludes that the conciliation between Jews and Christians seems to be a fiction, and predicts eventual renewed anti-Jewish religious manifestations.
