Abstract: Der Zionismus Israels: Gründungsmythen, Staatsdoktrin und Friedenshindernis Seit der Gründung Israels 1948 ist der Nahe Osten in Konflikte verwickelt; das Palästinaproblem erscheint auf absehbare Zeit unlösbar. Wo liegen die Ursachen dieser Dauerkrise? Israels Gesellschaftsordnung beruht auf dem Zionismus, der sich im 19. Jahrhundert die Schaffung eines Judenstaats zum Ziel setzte. Die in Israel aufgewachsene Autorin legt die Bedeutung des Zionismus als Gründungsmythos und Staatsdoktrin des Landes offen. Sie zeigt, wie europäisches Überlegenheitsdenken in das Selbstverständnis Israels einging und erzählt die Geschichte des Nahostkonflikts neu. In dem jungen Staat wurde der Umgang mit den arabischen Nachbarn der politischen Debatte entzogen und den weitgehend unkontrollierten Sicherheitskräften übertragen. Wer an der Diskussion um die Lage im Nahen Osten von einem demokratisch-humanistischen Standpunkt aus teilnehmen will, sollte dieses Buch lesen. Tamar Amar-Dahl, Dr. phil., geb. 1968, israelisch-deutsche Historikerin. Militärdienst in Israel. Studium der Geschichte und Philosophie in Tel Aviv, Hamburg und München. Seit 2009 Dozentin an der Humboldt-Universität Berlin, seit 2011 an der Freien Universität Berlin. 2012/2013 Junior-Fellow am Alfried Krupp Wissenschaftskolleg Greifswald.
