History of the Berlin, Josephtal, Guldmann, Tuchmann and Metzger families from Ansbach, Nuremberg and Weisenau (near Mainz), circa 1750 to the 1960s. Most of them were in the wine and iron trade; social rise from peddlers to successful merchants during 19th century; beginnings of Jewish community in Nuremberg; Fuerth Jewish community; law office of Berlin-Josephtal in Nuremberg; Jewish communities of Weisenau (near Mainz) and Harburg (Svabia); the iron merchants Guldmann and the "Sueddeutsche Eisengesellschaft"; origins of Tuchmann family in Floss (Bavaria); move to Uehlfeld (Franconia) and Dessau; trip to Palestine in 1934; immigration to USA.
