Abstract:
Der israelische Psychologe Dan Bar-On ermöglicht Einblicke in die mentalen Befindlichkeiten im Nahen Osten. Seine sozialpsychologischen Untersuchungen zeigen, wie eng die aktuellen Auseinandersetzungen mit der Geschichte des Landes und seiner Gründergeneration verknüpft sind. Eindrucksvoll analysiert er die bewegenden Gespräche zwischen Juden und Arabern, aber auch zwischen Juden dreier Generationen in Israel, in denen viele Tabus thematisiert und diskutiert werden. Am Beispiel der kollektiven israelischen Identität entwickelt er ein dialogisches Modell der Identitätsfindung, das sich auf andere politische und persönliche Konfliktbereiche übertragen lässt.
