Abstract:
Examines Jelinek’s plays "In den Alpen" (2002) and "Erlkönigin" (2008), in which she situates her "speaking corpses" in the context of the Holocaust, bringing together the idea of commemoration of the dead and the concept of testimony. Argues that both plays demonstrate that the revisionist discourse in Austria which downplays, even denies, the Holocaust continues to exist.
