Abstract:
Dutch critics claim that Goldhagen's "Hitler's Willing Executioners" (a Dutch translation appeared in 1996) has no value as it shows no new historical insights. Notes that Goldhagen repeatedly asks his critics to show him where he is wrong. The Dutch newspaper "Vrij Nederland" states that Goldhagen blames all the Germans for having been willing executioners, a statement that is almost racist. However, the much-hoped-for wish on the part of the Germans that the reunification of Germany and the recent commemoration services for the end of World War II would cover up the Nazi past was ruined. The Goldhagen affair shows once again that "there is no business like Shoah business".
