Abstract: The text of "Sefer Nestor ha-komer" (ca. 900) is written as the story of a Christian priest (wrongly named Nestor in the Hebrew translation) who converted to Judaism and wrote a critical account opposed to the fundamental Christian doctrine regarding the nature of Jesus and the Trinity. The original version of the book was written in Judeo-Arabic with a translation to Hebrew The book had a considerable influence on subsequent Jewish polemics concerning Christian doctrine.

Abstract: A paper presented at an international congress on the socio-historical interpretaton of the New Testament, Medina del Campo, May 1991. Analyzes bishop Julián of Toledo's "De comprobatione sextae aetatis, libri tres" (686), an anti-Jewish polemical text written at the behest of the Visigoth King of Spain, Ervigius. Julián accused the Jews not only of rejecting Jesus as the Messiah, but also of spreading word of a later coming of the real Messiah during the sixth millennium, thus shaking many Christians' faith.

Abstract: Presents the Hebrew text, with a Spanish translation, of a letter by Abner of Burgos (ca. 1270-1350) written in the vein of his anti-Jewish polemics. Based on the Midrash and the Talmud, he argued that the Messiah had already come and that he did not save the Jews, who were guilty of not recognizing the Trinity, but saved the Christians who are the Verus Israel. Includes a critique by Abner's contemporary, Yosef Shalom.
