Abstract:
I.Y. Gurlyand, an apostate Jew and an official of the Russian Internal Affairs Ministry in 1904-17, was a disseminator of antisemitism in his ministry. In 1906-07, under the pen-name "Vasilev", he published two pamphlets in which he argued that the newly established Constitutional Democrats and Trudoviks (labor parties) were supported mainly by Jews. In 1906-14, he was also the editor of the official periodical "Rossiya", in which he denied that there was antisemitism in Russia and spoke against the civil emancipation of the Jews.
