Abstract:
A paper delivered at the fourth Congreso Internacional de las Tres Culturas, Toledo, September-October 1988. Discusses the testimonies against suspected Judaizers filed in the register of the Inquisitorial Tribunal of Osma-Soria, Spain, in the period 1486-1502 (especially after 1491). Accusations were brought against 196 Jews and 155 Conversos suspected of Judaizing, all of them from the middle class. The testimonies include information on some 30 Jewish communities prior to the expulsion, and on a concentration of Conversos in Soria and surroundings. States that there is no mention of the classical accusation of usury, and that among the informers were Jews and Conversos.
