Abstract:
Discusses the problem of transfer of information about the Holocaust to London from the Warsaw ghetto. Argues that Józef Lewandowski (see his article in this issue) underestimates the importance of reports prepared by the Oneg Shabbat group under the guidance of Emanuel Ringelblum. On pp. 253-256 presents an unpublished Oneg Shabbat report entitled "Drugi etap" ("The Second Stage") comparing it (and other Oneg Shabbat reports about the murder of Jews in Chełmno) with the Bund letters. Relates how Oneg Shabbat and other underground groups, including the Bund, worked in the Warsaw ghetto together. Contends that Ringelblum's reports reached the Bund circles, and that his information was used in the Bund letters.
Note:
Discusses who sent the first reports abroad about the annihilation of the Jews in Poland, based on material found in the Ringelblum Archives.
