    Abstract: With an English summary.
Abstract: Discusses changes in the attitude of the Catholic Church toward Jews and Judaism after World War II, spurred by Christian reflection on the Holocaust. Surveys consecutive steps taken by the Church which led to the "Nostra aetate" declaration and the end of the teaching of contempt. Discusses, also, the attitude of the Vatican toward the State of Israel which was epitomized in the visit of Pope John Paul II to Israel in 2000. Stresses that the Pope's personal memory of the Shoah was one of the important factors which influenced these changes.
Note: Appeared also in "Dialog katolicko-judaistyczny w perspektywie dokumentów Stolicy Apostolskiej" (2016) 97-121.
