Abstract:
A paper delivered at a conference held in Kraków, September 1986. Describes the polemics on the "Jewish question" in Poland in the period of the Four Years' Sejm (1788-92), during which there were attempts at reforming the Jews and projects to give Jews full rights as citizens. However, the discussions did not lead to any legislation regarding the Jews, mainly because of the burghers' opposition.
