Abstract:
The leadership structures of the Warsaw Jewish community were formed around the end of the Old Poland period but there were only formally legalized after the third partition of Poland. The elections of the community board were not held at regular intervals and the community accused the elders of financial irregularities and lack of sufficient attention to its needs. In the years 1821-1822 the responsibilities of the community board were taken over by a synagogue supervision body, whose scope of powers was narrowed down
