    Abstract: Describes deportations to Auschwitz, Theresienstadt, and other camps from Wrocław (then Breslau). At the end of 1940 there were ca. 9,000 Jews in Wrocław. Quotes extensively from testimonies concerning the deportations which are found in the Yad Vashem archives, in the State Archives in Wrocław, and in the Institute of Documentation in Israel for the Investigation of Nazi War Crimes (Haifa). Very few of Wrocław's Jews survived the war.

    Abstract: Describes the special situation of the Jewish population in Upper Silesia up to 1937, due to the Geneva convention concerning minorities (1922) according to which the Nuremberg Laws could not be applied in this territory. Immediately after the expiry of this convention, the racial laws were imposed by Germany. The "Kristallnacht" pogrom caused many Jews to emigrate. Those who remained were deported to extermination camps in 1942-43. A list of the Jews deported from Gliwice (Gleiwitz) in 1942 is appended on pp. 236-247.
