Abstract:
Discusses factors which caused the Jews who survived the war to leave Poland in the immediate postwar period. In the general postwar atmosphere of demoralization of the population, antisemitism and frequent murders of Jews aroused deep feelings of insecurity, helplessness, and menace. Describes antisemitic excesses in Poland between 1945-47. Concludes that the Holocaust had no influence on Polish-Jewish postwar relations, and did not reduce hostility and ill-will towards the Jews.
Note:
On illegal emigration of Jews from Poland between 1945-1947.
